How we met

Clint and I met during college at Iowa State, where we both worked at Sam's Club.  I started there in January of 2007, but it wasn't until July that we went on our first date- to the movies to see Ocean's 13.  We stayed up until 5 a.m. talking and were inseparable after that!  (Picture from our one month dating anniversary.)

The proposal: May 24th, 2008

We had been talking about getting married for a couple of months now, but there were a few things Clint wanted to wait for before we got engaged.  Number 1: His sister and brother-in-law were going to have a baby, and his younger brother was graduating from high school and he wanted to wait until after those had passed so we didn't steal anyone's thunder.  Number 2: We didn't want me working at Sam's Club to avoid drama.  Number 3:He wanted a career job before he asked my dad (my dad would've said yes anyway!).  All three of these things had happened, so I was getting a little anxious.  I suspected he had bought the ring, especially when I went to put something in his center console of his car and he got all bent out of shape and told me to stay out of there.

Clint offered to take me out to dinner one Saturday night, and we went to our favorite restaurant, The Cafe.  He seemed kind of nervous all throughout dinner and I had inklings he might propose, but every time I thought was the perfect moment, he didn't do it.  I figured afterwards maybe he would take me to a park near the restaurant that I love, but instead he asked if I wanted to watch a movie.  I was a little disappointed because I figured he was so romantic, there was no way he would do it during a movie.  We stopped by his apartment to get a movie, and he made me come inside, which was unusual.  He picked a movie that I had gotten him for Christmas- Ocean's 13, and we went back to my place to watch it.  A few minutes into the beginning, he stood up, pulled the ring out of his pocket, got down on one knee and said something terribly romantic about our first date (so THAT'S how he made watching a movie romantic) and wanting to be with me forever (who can remember when you're THAT excited?).  I, of course, knocked him over and started crying and said yes!

I graduate May 9, 2009- 7 weeks after we get married.  My major is Community and Public Health and right now the plan is to get a job and get my masters at Des Moines University online.  No, I'm not crazy planning a wedding while in classes- I will be doing an internship in Nevada, IA for 14 credits next semester, so, no classes! After my internship is done on April 24th, I am packing up the rest of my stuff and headed out to Baltimore to live with my new husband (and hopefully find a job while I'm getting my Masters!).

Clint at his best while on vacation in DC!

Clint graduated in August of '08 with a degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and he works for Werner Enterprises as a fleet manager.  He was originally in a training program that had him out of town Sunday night through Friday night and occasional weekends, but that all changed when he accepted a permanent spot in Baltimore, MD! We are so excited to move out there! Clint will be holding down the fort until I move out the last week of April.
